I looked thoughtful a moment. "Well.. Whenever I have nothing to do I always go to the park.. random maybe.. but it's nice there.."I suggested with a shrug and smiled a little. I noticed how he had stood up when I did.. Usually I saw that done in old movies, maybe he was brought up old fashioned? Who knows.. But I liked it, the men in old movies were so polite... and romantic... true gentlemen.. I shook my head to get rid of the thoughts and laughed a little at myself.

"The park sounds excellent," Edward graciously replied to her, then stepped away from the table and began walking for the door. Once he got there, he grasped the cold metal handle, and swung the glass door open toward him. He stepped aside and held it for Hero, although a couple of people took sly advantage of the door being open and slipped out before her. Edward rolled his eyes a bit, but looked at Hero and his face lit up in yet another crooked, yet perfect smile.

I smiled as I walked through the door. I turned when I had exited and nodded a 'thank you'. Some other guys I had known would just open the door and let it slam in your face, they didn't care one way or the other, the just cared if they got through the door, and you had to open the door for yourself. But Edward was different.. WAY different. I also noticed how he looked at me, it seemed strange that we had met just yesterday, and he already looked at me.. well.. I can't explain it.. but.. yeah. He was just.. really REALLY nice!

Once Hero had walked out the door, Edward walked through it himself, releasing the door handle and allowing it to slowly close behind him.
"So, which way to the park?" He asked, looking up and around for a few moments, then returning a relaxed gaze to Hero, patiently waiting for her to answer.

"That way." I said pointing in the direction of the park, which was across the highway, and near the woods. I went to grab Edwards arm to tug him gently and start walking but was startled by how cold his arm was. I pulled my hand back and stared at his arm, a crazy expression on my face.

Edward immediately pulled his arm behind his back as soon as he felt her warm hand touch him, using his other hand to grasp the forearm and hold it there. He had his head turned away still, pretending he hadn't felt her touch him, and didn't know she was staring at his cold, pale arm, bewildered.
"So, you said this way?" His voice was high in tone, and he began walking toward the way she had pointed him to, glancing sheepishly back over his shoulder at her to make sure she was coming. "Something wrong?"

I continued to stare, my face was frozen into a look of shock. I caught up with him and nodded. "Y..Yeah.. that way.." I said my eyes extremely puzzled as I looked at him, it had been so cold, like ice, and so hard like granite. I felt myself shiver and found myself slowly reaching towards his arm again, to touch it, to make sure I wasn't crazy or something.

Edward nodded slowly as he began walking again, his head facing forward. . . But looking at her out of the corner of his eye frequently. After a short while, he saw her curious and wide eyes looking at her hand, and her gaze moving closer to his own body. He looked to where she was looking, at her arm which came toward him. In one sudden, but somehow graceful movement, he took a quick leap to the left, the opposite way of her, and then paused exactly where he landed. "Is there something on my arm?" He asked indifferently, using finely tweaked and practiced technique of seemingly genuine curiosity and innocence as he glanced from his arm to her, and repeating. He was now at least 4 feet away from her. As much as he wanted to be close to her, she couldn't get too touchy.. Too curious. It would likely end dangerously, and that was the last thing he wanted.

I was startled as he jumped away and shook my head. "Umm..." I shrugged. "No.. Why are you so cold?" I asked looking right at him, not wanting to miss any expression he made. I wanted to know, it was weird.. and just.. I wanted to know why he was so cold.. and so hard! I swallowed and looked down, feeling foolish, but still shocked. I stared at the ground as I walked. I must be going crazy,, seriously!

Edward's eyes narrowed as he looked at her, and then at all of the people surrounding them, walking in and out of the park. As if a room full off talkative people, he heard what the people walking by were thinking. And some were getting a little antsy. . . It was becoming too risky. They had to go somewhere more private, somewhere quieter. But she was a weak, and worried human. Under no circumstances would she go anywhere alone with him. At least not yet.
"It's hard to explain." He breathed finally, looking at her with eyes that pleaded for her not to ask any more questions.

I looked at him, my eyes shown confusion, and vulnerability.. I saw the look in his eyes and wiped the expression off my face, replacing it with a small smile. "Okay...." I said a little uncomfortably. "But.. will you tell me? sometime or another" I asked a little curious. Maybe he didn't trust me enough, what if it was some sort of illness or something.. I was getting curiouser by the second, but pushed my thoughts aside and focused on the park that we had walked into. I walked over to the swing sets that were standing alone and flopped down in one of the swings, I pushed myself a little with the point of my shoe, but couldn't reach very well, so I sat there, thoughtfully looking around, watching the people.

Edward hesitantly nodded to Hero, tracking a few feet behind her and walking slowly as she went to the swing set. He sat on a high swing, placed next to her's, and rocked his left foot on the ground, causing him to move back and forth slowly on the swing,limiting the swing's movements with his other foot.
"I'm sorry, I know that was rude." He broke the silence after a short while. "You'll know when the right time comes." He added in, speaking to her without even glancing at her. He kept his gaze set on the molchy wood chips below his feet.

I shrugged. "Okay.." I said and pursed my lips a little in thought. Then I smiled and tried to reached the ground again, I guess I had chosen a swing that was a little too high for me, but all the others were taken. I finally touched the ground with the tip of my shoe and swung it back and fourth, it swayed a little and I pulled myself back up onto the swing, it swung gentle back and fourth, there we go, perfect! I smiled a little, glancing over at Edward, he looked kind of.. worried.. I furrowed my eye brows and wondered what he was thinking about.

Edward couldn't help but smile as he looked over at Hero, watching her struggle to get the swing moving. He pushed himself a little bit more, but decided he wouldn't go any higher or faster. Honestly, there were many more things that were much more exhilarating than a swing set.. He couldn't decide what the big rush was that humans got from it. "What are you thinking?" he asked after a few moments, in a low voice, hinted with curiosity yet somehow sounding positive and light. His bright eyes smoldered as he looked at her expectantly, waiting for an answer.

I caught him looking at me with a small as he watched me try to get the swing moving, I laughed a little an glanced away for a moment, then I heard him speak and looked back at him. him. "Nothing interesting I can assure you of that.." I giggled and looked around, my eyes resting on a cute couple walking through the park, holding hands and splitting a chocolate bar. I smiled as I watched them.

Edward smirked at her answer. Boredly, he grabbed a hold of the chains that held the swing he sat on, and leaned way down, so that his head just nearly touched the ground. He looked at the world upside down for a few moments, then looked over at a distant-looking Hero. "Did I ask if it was interesting?" He challenged with half a smile, his voice strained from the odd position. After a while, he used his arms to pull himself back into an upright position. Once again, he looked at her expectantly. "Please?" He gave her that same look he did in the ice cream parlor, flashing his white teeth and tilting his head ever so slightly to the left.

I giggled and shook my head.. "Noo..." I laughed as I watched him upside down, then he leaned up and looked over at me, giving me the same look he had giving me earlier. II rasied an amused eyebrow and shoo my head. "Oh c'mooon, not the look!!" I said, pleading as if I was pleading for my life, then I laughed and shook my head. "Nopeee.." I loved that look, the look I had been lucky enough to see twice that day. He just looked so.. agh, hard to explain, but it was hard to say no to that face!

Edward lifted his eyebrows a little, and continued to look at her.. Still with that look on his face. Perhaps even making it more convincing -- or adorable, as some might put it - than before. "I don't know what you're talking about." He light-heartedly lied through his teeth, staring her down with liquid topaz eyes. "It really isn't that hard.." He said in a quieter voice, still smiling.

GAH! He was so adorable when he did that!! I growled and shook my head. "I can't believe you! FINE! You win! Who can say no to that face??! Seriously!" I teased lightly. 'I'm just thinking about how those two over there make a cute couple." I said and motioned towards them, then I added. "And I was wondering what you were thinking." I laughed gently.

Edward triumphantly grinned as she finally answered. "They're okay, I suppose." He said as he looked at the couple, reading their minds out of force of habit.
"She's worrying about if those khakis are too tight on her backside." He predicted flawlessly, paying more attention to looking at them than he was to talking. With lifted eyebrows and relaxed eyes, he continued. "And he's worried that he has chocolate on his face. He'll wipe it with his finger in three.. Two.. one." And the man did it right on time. Edward shrugged. "People can be so predictable."

I stared at him, a shocked expression on my face, I gazed from him, to the couple, then I opened my mouth to speak but it just hung open as I sat there, completely mind blown! How had he done that?! We he some sort of. mind reader or something?? "Wha...how...huh...?!" I stammered and managed to close my mouth instead of just let it hang there in astonishment.

Edward turned and looked at Hero, chuckling darkly. "I told you. People are incredibly predictable.. Everyone, except you." He smirked, taking one more glance at the couple as they continued making their way across the park on their brisk little walk.
After a few moments, he looked back to Hero, still smiling.

I tilted my head. "That was way more than just 'predictable' that was more like mind reading.." I was getting suspicious now. I reached from where I was sitting and my fingertips touched his face, my fingers tingled with the instant cold that ran through them and I pulled my hand back. "you don't have to tell me everything.. just.. don't lie to me.." I said and bit my lip looking away. I knew there was something he wasn't telling me, but I didn't think it was anything you know, serious, or dangerous.

"I'm not lying," Edward spoke matter-of-factly, averting his gaze from her a couple of times. "People are very predictable.. Very habit-bound." He waited a few moments, thinking of how to answer her last statement. . . "What if I were to say that I'm not lying, per say. Simply. . . Not giving the whole truth." He admitted hesitantly at first, but the words rolled off his tongue after the first few words. Holding onto the swing chain right in front of his face, he leaned forward just slightly, in order to see Hero more clearly.

"So you're to lying, but you're not telling me everything?" I said understanding. I nodded. "OKay.. that works.. but you still said you were going to tell me later.. Right?" I asked. I really wanted to know. I didn't want to always wonder what he was, or what was wrong with him. Especially not if I.. you know.. liked him.. That would tear me apart.. but I'm not saying I like him.. just.. he's nice.. a good friend.. Okay, fine, I liked him.. He was mysterious, had a good sens of humor.. I was falling.. I admit it..
