Animorphs

I sat there quietly leaning silently against the tree, hidden by the shadow of the long dark branches and the leaves helped hide me. I felt my eyelids drooped and figured I was well hidden and it would be safe to say that I was far enough away, and that I was well hidden. I soon was engulfed by a light sleep.

Maria continued to wander almost blindly through the thick woods, squinting lightly as she scanned the area for any odd animal, or for Skye in human form.
Finally, with a dim light outlining Skye's body, Maria spotted her. A grin spread across her perfect features, and she approached Skye. She stood just in front of her and gave her shoulder a small nudge with her left hand. Her eyes showed apparent darkness, and she still smiled.

I was dragged out of my sleep and started a little jumped to my feet. "Wh..what?" I rubbed my eyes, I hadn't been asleep long, I knew that much. I looked up and saw the last thing I want to see. I scowled and balled my fist. What the hell was she doing here? I saw the sickeningly sweet smile on her face and scooted away from her, prepared to morph into any animal if I had to. I got the feeling she wasn't here to apologize.

Maria took a small step back, the smile still fresh on her face. "Hello." She whispered under her breath, her expression absolutely sickening. Her hands were balled into fists and she prepared herself to morph.. But she had a few things to say in human form first.

"What do you want." I swallowed and saw her dark eyes. I looked around, wondering where Tony was.. Did she.. was.. is she a spy? My eyes widened. "Where is Tony?" I demanded hotly and pressed my lips together, trying to control my bubbling anger towards her.

Maria's eyes flickered into a darker state... She fully intended to inflict as much pain and suffering onto her as she possibly could... Her mission was to kill. Nobody necessarily said she needed to be killed instantaneously. "Let's just say that.. he won't be coming to your rescue this time." Her smirk widened.

Fear engulfed me. I looked at her wide eyed, completely taking the wrong idea from what she said. "You.. killed him?" I gasped, a wave of anger taking every piece of me. Now I was ready to fight her. I was ready, oooh, was I ready. I quickly morphed into a large dinosaur, turning quickly intending to smack her with my tail. My legs throbbed, but the pain considerably subsided since I was larger and with tougher skin.

Maria neglected to answer in any other way than just a crude chortle. As soon as she saw Skye's form begin to shift, she morphed a new form... One that she hadn't used in quite a while, and one that she was sure Skye wouldn't expect.
Her legs grew thicker, her arms awkwardly small, and her skull escalated dramatically in size. Rubbery and thick hide stretched across her once frail human body, and a long, thick tail sprouted from her coccyx.
She morphed into the enormous 40-foot tall beast, her 6-ton mass sinking the soft soil down considerably. Just after the change had completed, she felt Skye's much smaller tail thwack her in the side.
She was a Gigantosaurus now. Carnivorous, large, intimidating. With teeth so sharp, created solely for the purpose of ripping and slicing flesh apart. She bore those frightening teeth at Skye, her eyes still holding that darkness that they always would.

I let out a considerably loud screech. Then I saw her large form looming over me. I jumped back, I couldn't fight that thing, no matter how hard I tried. I turned and jumped a little morphing into a cheetah and darted across the ground, my whole body now ached, but I didn't care. I had to get away from this maniac killer.

Maria resisted letting out a screech that loomed in her throat, then watched as Skye darted away. -Coward!- She called, then began chasing after her. Each enormous step conquered large patches of land, and she paid no mind to the trees. She either would bump into them and keep going, or knock them down altogether.

I continued running as fast as my wounded legs would carry me. Fright covered my furry face and I was approaching an enclosure of trees and saw a figure sitting and leaning against one. I strained my eyes to see more details through the rain. My pelt soaked with the drops that fell from the sky. I saw that it was Tony. I drew in a sharp breath. -TONY!- I hissed, anger bubbling up inside, he was dead.. Oh my gosh he's dead. No!

I murmured something that even I couldn't understand as I heard someone distant calling my name. But sleep was too... Perfect. Too absolutely, perfectly sensuous that I wasn't gonna let go of it that easily. I remain still, trying to dive back into the sleep that I so desperately craved.

Maria lost track of Skye. A small, slick, incredibly fast feline against this enormous and bulky figure wasn't a fair match. She'd expected to fight, not chase... But knowing Skye, she should have known she was gonna make a run for it.
So she morphed into something far different, a black and grey Timber wolf. The keen sense of smell and eye sight, plus the mass of her 140 pound body surely would come in handy.
Plus, she could easily end Tony in his sleep so she no longer had to lie to Skye about his demise.

-TONY!- I yelped again, approaching him fast, not seeing Maria behind me... or should I say #252. I tapped him with my paw, -Tony.. please.. no you can't be dead..- I hissed, then noticed the rise of his chest. I let out a relieve sigh and nudged him, -TONY!!- I hissed, I morphed into a human. "Tony! Wake up! She's a spy!! WAKE UP!" I said in a quiet yell so that she wouldn't here, if she already hadn't. I nudged his shoulder biting my lip

Once again I was unmercifully pulled from my pleasant realm of rest and peace by that voice that I so unconditionally despised at that particular moment.
"Go.. awa-" I started to say, but paused as I distantly heard the key word 'Spy'. My eyes shot wide open, I could feel my lids were still heavy. I guess I didn't look my best...
"I'm sorry, what?" I snapped, speaking loudly as I scrambled to my feet.

"Maria.. #252 is a SPY!! She's coming we have to run!!" I said jumped up to my feet, I grabbed his arm to help him balance. Bad move. Pain ran along that whole side and made me wince. "Ughhh." I groaned and my legs almost buckled. But I stood tall and forced myself to steady us both.

"Gosh dammit," I snapped viciously under my breath. Okay... There were quite a few things that were royally pissing me off at that moment. I was tired, I was aching, I was in a hell of a lot of pain... Skye's mom was dead because of these imbeciles, and all I wanted was to be home, sound asleep... I wanted to feel that once-familiar reassurance that everything was okay, everyone was alive... Everything would still be okay if I fell asleep and woke up. I didn't want to hurt anymore, I didn't want to see Skye hurt anymore.
I was tired of betrayal, sick of feeling like shit. Sick of absolutely everything!
I ripped Skye's hand from mine in the kindest way possible, trying to make it clear that I wasn't upset with Skye anymore. And without hesitation, I morphed into the familiar form of an Amur tiger. -Run, Skye... As fast as you can. I'll catch up, I promise.- I told Skye quickly, my lips already pulled up to reveal my massive teeth. The gloves were off now, all bets off... I was unleashing every single bit of me into ending this 'Spy's' mission. And to end her life.... She didn't deserve to live.
My round ears snapped back against my sore skull and I bounded in the direction that I could immediately smell a wolf coming from.

I nodded and looked at his angry face, then he morphed. I morphed back into a cheetah and began running. Then I skidded to a stop. No. I wasn't going to run, I was going to hep if he needed me. I easily ran along behind him, ready to jump behind a tree and pop out when I was needed. I continued running until I could see the wolf bounding towards us. I morphed into a squirrel and climbed up a tree standing on a branch. I balanced myself and waited, I knew what I would do.

I could have snapped at Skye as I saw her come back and run beside me, but I decided against it. She could make her own choices... I didn't need to control her. And I probably would need the help.
The bushes and trees seemed to go past me faster than I thought I was running. But ahead, I could see the dark and cold eyes of a Black timber wolf running at me. Despite how fast everything else seemed to flash past me, it took me quite a while to get any closer to the wolf.
But then it hit me like a ton of bricks. She was right in front of me.. Teeth bore, ears back, hackles raised. Her front paws lifted off the ground and she leaped up into the air toward me. I did the same, spreading my paws out and extending my long black claws. We collided in the air, and this time.. It did feel like a movie.
Like slow motion I felt her jaws clench down on my shoulder, and I could hear my own thick claws dig into both of her sides. We remain in the air for what seemed like an eternity, everything around us faded away momentarily, pain and anger were the only things I felt.
Then the slow motion discontinued, the muted pain I felt changed into flaming, real and sharp agony. The world around us reappeared in a flash, and we tumbled across the forest floor in a mess of orange and black fur at a speed that I honestly couldn't believe.

I watched the scene play out below me, it all happened so fast I couldn't keep track. If only Tony would get out of the way. So I could jump down and morph into a dinosaur, as I planned. I moved around and jumped from tree to tree trying to get the best angle. But they just moved so darn much. I sighed and winced whenever I saw her take a swing at Tony.

I could feel us moving slightly faster as we tumbled down a hill. Occasionally I would feel a rock jab my back, but I tried to slam her into them for the most part. I felt her energy drain, but mine was draining faster... I guessed she had been trained to morph better and more efficiently, which lessened my chances of winning this fight immensely.
But I still refused to give up... Even if I wasn't to win this battle, I would die trying. And at least weaken her enough so that Skye could win the second battle while doing so.
I stuck out one of my back legs to try and stop us from rolling. It dug deep into the soft soil, and we skidded about ten feet. But eventually we came to almost a complete stop.
I pulled my head back as she repeatedly snapped at it, barking vigorously. I felt her get a bite in every now and then, but I remain on top of her, and placed one of my front paws over her face, shoving it down in the dirt as much as I could. I extended the claws in my back paws and dug them into her hips. She yelped out with pain, and I simply dug deeper.
But my short victory wasn't bound to last... She soon decided that the wolf wasn't the only form she needed to use. I felt her fur disappear from underneath my paws, I felt her skin become rough and durable.
I knew where she was going with this.. I knew I didn't have a chance. I dove off of her and spun around, snarling loudly.
But she kept on changing, and I recognized what form she was taking. Gigantosaurus... Okay! Yes! The name sounds fake. But at that moment, I didn't have time to laugh at the species name.

I bounded in my squirrel form down the hill behind them. I saw Tony on top of her and snapping jaws flying all over the place. I then saw the immediate change before me. From wolf, to Gigantosauras. I drew inn a sharp breath then dove down the hill letting myself tumble. Until I was right beside the big thing. I then reached my paw out and touched the scaly skin. I then thought and concentrated, right beneath the gigantic things legs. I morphed into the same creature, my scaly skin brushed against her and I pushed with all my weight to get her down the hill. I snapped my jaws at her face and tried to get her skin in my teeth.

My eyes widened as I saw Skye tumble down and touch the beast, then she turned into it herself. I felt the need once again to reject her actions, but resisted.
I watched as Ma-... Er.. #262 lost her balance and tumbled a few dinosaur lengths down the hill. But she stopped herself and let out a gut-wrenching roar. I shuddered and watched as she came galumphing [is that a word?? O:] back up the hill.
My mind was running a thousand miles per hour... I wasn't sure what to do next. I wasn't sure if there was anything I could do. "Skye, get back here!" I called after Skye finally, giving in to trying to let her do her own thing. #262 was trained to fight, and trained to kill... We didn't stand a chance. We needed to run, or plan an ambush.

Before she could even reached me I sprang back and morphed into a small little cat, grabbing onto a thick tree branch and pulling myself up. I then morphed into something smaller and ran along the branch until I was directly on top of her, I morphed something smaller so she wouldn't see where I was. All I needed was for Tony to get her into a smaller form. Then I heard his voice ringing through the air, I looked up with frantic eyes, no, we had to finish her!
