Animorphs

I accepted his hand and pulled myself up also. I remembered my uncles eagle shelter, he saved eagles that were hurt and then nursed and cared for them, and when they could go on their own he'd let them go. "Remember that time when I took you to my uncles eagle rescue farm?!" I said quickly. "Did you touch any of the birds?"

(Lets just say she had taken him xD lol)

I took a couple of seconds to think about what the heck she was talking about.. and then I remembered. "Yes! I touched the Golden eagle!" I answered with a high amount of enthusiasm. Raptors, Dogs, and Girls couldn't catch Eagles... It was fool-proof.
"Come on," I said and began running across the top of the building. I kicked myself faster and faster across the bumpy roof surface, and took a large leap once I reached the end of the building. Being rather dependent in my powers, I leaped off the building without even slowing down. "WOOHOO!" I shouted, having more fun than I had had in quite a while. I mean.. how many Teenagers got to freely jump off buildings? My shout gradually transformed into the eagle's screech, and my body changed from a useless, soft human body to a swift, strong eagle's.. Un-used to the particular form, I stretched my wings far out and headed straight up back toward the building to see Skye.

I too began running, I pushed myself faster. Fear swelling inside of me as I approached the end of the building at a fast speed. I jumped, I felt free, then I felt as though my stomach was going to leap out of my body. I morphed, into an American eagle, the wind caught me and I steadied and flew straight up out of the two buildings. -C'mon, lets get lost.- I said laughing gently and heading off in a random direction. Suddenly fear for my family overwhelmed me, I hoped they were safe.

I nodded in a very subtle way to Skye, and soared down toward her. I didn't know, nor care where she was going.. I just followed behind, and a little to the left of her. -You don't think they'll follow us.. do you?- I squawked to her, flapping my wings on occasion. I wanted to look behind me.. but I was in capable.

-I don't know, depends if they've touched any animal that can fly.- I squawked back, only flapping my wings occasionally when the wind died down a bit. Then I surfed the different wind currents from there. I glanced back behind us, not seeing anything. But quickly looked ahead, didn't want to run into anything. I hadn't looked long enough to really tell anything for certain.

-If they're with the scientists, who knows what DNA they have touched..- I said logically, only then realizing the stupidity of my previous question. -I'll see..- I said and tilted my left wing higher than my right, and soared downward so that I turned around. Once I had achieved my basic direction, I flapped my wings to once again gain the height I had before. My eyes scanned the dark area for any other creature in the sky. I couldn't see anything, in fact, I was in a dead silence.

-Good point.- I squawked back and kept flying forward, I glanced back at him and saw that he was checking behind us. I returned my gaze in front of me and looked around for a place to land and rest, I was getting tired. (shortness.. xD)

As soon as I had 100% confirmed that nobody was tailing us... I swung back around and began soaring back to where Skye was. -Nobody...- I squawked to her as I came up upon a building. My strong talons opened, and reached for the pipes that I aimed for. My large, powerful wings then flapped quickly a few times as I carefully lowered myself safely onto the pole. I then turned around so that I was facing outward, and waited for Skye to join me... We had some serious discussing to do.

I flew after him, spreading my wings and talons. As I was approaching the rooftop I morphed human, I landed neatly on my feet. "I've always wanted to do that." I said happily as I stood out of my squatted position and brushed off my jeans out of habit. I then walked over to Tony. "Well.. That was close." I sighed with relief.

I shot my alert gaze over to Skye as I heard her speak. It obviously would make sense to morph human.. especially if we weren't being chased anymore. I hopped down off of the tube that I stood on, and onto the sturdy ground of the roof. And then morphed human. Since I was 'standing up' as an eagle, I was standing up as a human. "You can say that again," I replied to Skye as I lowered myself down until I was sitting next to her. I slowly turned my gaze from in front of me, over to her. "What do we do now? We can't lead them to our families..."

"I was just thinking that.." I said slowly.. "We should stay somewhere else.. like go somewhere else for a while.. We could call home and tell them not to worry.. But the thing is.. where would we go?" I sat thinking, my gaze absently staring at the concrete beneath me.

"Call and tell them not to worry?" I repeated, cutting Skye off right there. "That isn't gonna work. They'll come looking for us, or call the police. It's too suspicious... Too risky." I said as I stood up once again. My shoes quietly scuffed on the dirty roof as I began walking toward the middle. I would then turn shortly, and walk back the other way. And then repeat the process.
"We have to... Err.." I studdered, trying to think of a plan a I paced.

"We can tell them we're going somewhere...or... I dunno. Just something NOT suspicious... like we just made plans or..whatever." I shrugged and paced in the opposite direction as him, I rubbed my arms from the gentle breeze that was blowing and bit my lip, what were we going to do. What were we going to do?!

I turned my head slightly downward, and shook it back and forth doubtfully. "We could... I guess." I said, still feeling doubt for the idea. It was a good idea, don't get me wrong... But we didn't know how long we were going to be gone. "This is exactly why I promised myself not to get attached to them." I grimaced under my breath. "What if we don't ever see our families again?" I finally lifted my gaze to look at Skye, and stopped pacing.

I nodded and continued pacing, I heard his words and stopped, felling my eyes sting at the thought of never seeing them again, my brothers, my parents. I loved them, they were my life, my family. I lifted my gaze to meet his, sadness covering my face for a second then I hid it. "I don't know." I croaked slightly because a small cry had built in my throat, I swallowed. I pushed the sad thoughts aside and shrugged lightly. "We have to, whats better, going home and seeing them, then the scientists coming and taking us away maybe even killing them.." I winced at my dramatic addition. "Or leaving them and keeping them safe, although we never see them again?" I said slightly logically, but feeling stabs in my heart. I didn't want to leave my family, but if it was for their safety I would have too.

I bit my lip hard at the sight of Skye being upset about it. Though, I managed to swallow the lump in my throat. I wasn't about to be some cry baby over a group of people that I wasn't even related to... I just wasn't.
"Their safety comes before ours," I said, making a successful attempt at keeping both sense, and my masculinity. "We have to just go... Start new somewhere else. Just like we did Seven years ago." I spoke as if I actually was OK with the plan. Truthfully, I felt as if someone was stabbing my heart.

I bit my lip also, I nodded and tried to force a smile. "It can't be that hard.." I said swallowing hard and averting my gaze to hide my shiny eyes. I wiped them quickly. "So.. what's the plan?" I asked as I slowly pulled my cell phone out of my pocket. "We can't go back home no matter what, not even to get our things. It's too risky."

I listened to her speak, and nodded as she mentioned not going back even for our stuff. "I know." I answered blankly as I also turned away. "I don't know... We just have to leave. Now. If they find out that we have left, they'll leave, too.. And that means they'll leave our families alone." I talked quietly as I began walking toward the end of the building again. "We're gonna have to run all night.."

"Should I call..?" I asked softly following him my fingers reluctantly placed on the keyboard of my cell phone. I looked at him biting my lip, my eyes slightly wider than usual. (shortness sorry I think I gtg soon but keep replying )

"You can." I answered without even taking a single glance back at her. I just stared down at the ground, an absolutely blank expression was upon my face. My eyes were squinted lightly, as if light was shining onto them... Of course, there was no light there. I let out a silent sigh as I thought over where we should go, and what schedule we should take on running, and resting... I tried everything to keep my mind away from Friends and Family. I just didn't have the time to think of it.

"Kay.." I dialed my home phone, it rang twice before my mom picked up. "Hey Mom!" I said trying my best to sound happy. "I'm going on a trip with some of my friends, I don't know when I'll be back, but I already have what I need with me.." I trailed off as I listened to her voice. "Well, I don't know, we had family plans this weeke-"
"Mom.. I have to go, it's something to do with school or something, I dunno,but I know that I have to go. Tell dad and the others that I love them and I'll see them when I get back." I said biting my lip, a tortured expression on my face.
"Well.. Okay honey.. Couldn't you just stop by-"
"No Mom, I'm leaving right now, I'm so sorry." I said sounding as sad as I was at the moment.
"I'll see you when I get back. Promise, I'll be calling." I said and smiling lightly.
"Okay, love you.. Bye." She said.
"Love you.." I whispered.. Then Hung up, tears in my eyes. I wiped them away quickly and bit my lip. "Lets go." I said softly.

I tried my best to tune out Skye's conversation with her mother. However, I did pick it up when she said 'let's go'.
"We're going South, to Miami, Florida...It's the easiest place to blend in to, and I have a friend who can lend us a car." I said and turned my head back to see her. "He is a couple blocks away.. Let's go."
I stepped onto the very edge of the building, and then morphed into a red squirrel. It was the best creature for getting off a building, fast.
I bounded down the side of the building, using scaffolds and window sills to my advantage. I moved so quickly down, that even I hardly knew what I was doing.

I nodded automatically, I morphed into a squirrel also and scurried after him, jumping off window sills and small roofs, and so on. I felt sad on the inside, thinking about what we were going to do, getting to Florida, where were we going to stay, I had to get money out of my bank account, I had to buy some clothes, I had to do many things. I tuned those thoughts out at the moment and thought about the present, smoke and car exhaust blended with the air in grey clouds, I sighed and kept following Tony.

My thoughts never once left my Family... Though I masked it, and made myself think I didn't care.. I couldn't not think about them. Maybe they were annoying, and procrastinators, and destructive... But I did still love them. Heck, I helped my 'mom' pick out most of them at the Orphanage. I couldn't believe we were leaving on such short notice... But at the moment, we were out of choices.
Once I had almost reached the ground, I morphed into a cougar to help catch myself. After all, cats always land on their feet. My chubby paws made a blunt 'thump' on the wet pavement, and I glanced up to wait for Skye to come down as well.

I continued climbing down, soon landing beside him, in my squirrel form, I had taken an easier route and gotten down safely, I morphed human as soon as I made sure no one was around then I stood our of my crouch position and stretching my limbs, I tried to morph as little as possible, it drained my energy a good amount.
