Within Temptations

I snorted and rolled my eyes as the long day continued of people who thought they could sing, I mean serious. I wanted to bang my head against the desk I sat at with the other band members but I settled to bunched my eyebrows together instead. We finally were starting to narrow the people down and so far we have only 2 people and a bunch more have to sing, I will be dead by the end of this or my ears will be bleeding either one. The next person up was a girl, oh joy that will be I chuckled at my own thoughts and rubbed my forehead. "Alright thank you we will give call you if we feel like dieing earlier" I muttered the last part very low so he wouldn't hear and waved him off. I pinched the bridge of my nose and closed my eyes as I leaned back in the leather chair and listened to them call up the next person.

I sat backstage, my ears plugged and my eyebrows furrowed together. What horrible singers. I would whoop their butts any day. I was going to sing 'Bittersweet'. I swallowed the lump in my throat as they called my name and breathed in deeply. I walked out onto the empty stage, looking around nervously and glancing back behind me, Curtis, my boyfriend, who had given me the chance to get into the auditions gave me a thumbs up. I smiled then looked back at the people sitting at the table. They looked pretty fed up, I bit my lip, "Well..." I cleared my throat.. "I'm Kacey Daniels.. and I'm going to sing.. Bittersweet." I said then the music began to play softly in the back ground, just loud enough that I could guide myself through it, I stepped up to the mic and swallowed once more, then I began to sing...

I rubbed my temples as the next person came up and leaned back into the chair more as I lifted my different colored orbs up to the girl. I grew a curious expression that I masked well with a blank appearance as I looked at her, I easily looked her over and oddly relaxed as she sang one of our hit songs. I smiled barley just the corner of my mouth lifting the slightest bit and looked at the other members. I rolled my eyes and the smile was gone as they all seemed to like her and I guess she was way better then the other people I could tell you that much. My eyes started to burn from the lack of a peaceful sleep and I closed them for a few moments, rubbing them before I looked at her once again and waited. "Thank you...." I looked at the list of names with growing irritation as I grew tired to hers then spoke again "..Kacey we will give you a call if your one of the finalist" I spoke up in a deep tone for how young I looked but I was useing my business tone you could say My gaze turning to an intense one full of tiredness and anger.

I finished the song half way through when the music stopped.. I nodded. "Okay....Thanks.." I said then I turned and walked off stage, my whole stomach doing flip flops. "Oh gosh that was scary, looks like he doesn't like anyone so far." I said as I reached Curtis and wrapped my arms around his neck and hugged him. Usually I was more spunky and outgoing, but today I was in a quiet mood.

Suddenly some guy walked on stage and honestly he looked really funny so I went on my first reaction which was to burst out laughing. I filled the room with laughter as the guy walked out and held my stomach as my sides heaved and coughed a few times "My bad sorry was thinking of something funny other then whats in front of me" I chuckled out loud and waved my hand for him to leave "Were done for the day" I sighed and stood up.I already had my mind set on who I wanted as the lead singer and later tonight I would talk with the other band members and I was pretty positive they would agree so the new lead singer was chosen. I rubbed my temples as I walked past people, not really seeing them since my mind was other places as i headed for the one thing that made me relax in my room.

Curtis wrapped his arm around me. "Well, lets go get some starbucks, then we can hit the beach or something." Then he scooped me up in his arms bridal style which made me giggle. "Okay!" I nodded enthusiastically as he carried my out, bouncing as he did to make me laugh some more. He was the perfect guy.

So The band and I talked and we picked out lead singer, yeah it was the kacey girl which heck she was better then most I guess but I didnt care to much as long as the others were satisfied. So we had called and given her the news and now we were all piled into a nice sized limo towards her address so we could 'bond'. I smirked and shook my head at such a word bond? yeah right she can 'bond' with them but not me. I already had a glass of scotch in my hand and downed it with one swallow before i put the cup away and leaned against the door.

I glanced one more time into the mirror, adjusting my dark blue tank top, then I skimmed over my outfit, jean jaket, tight lo rise jeans, and my black gladiator sandals, my hair was tousled, and the look was pulled together with some aviator glasses which I placed ontop of my head. I then grabbed my cell phone and wallet and shoved them into my jacket pocket. I glanced around my apartment once more before I walked out, locked the door behind me and headed for the elevator. I glanced at my watch, they'd be here in 5, if they were punctual. I sighed and hit the ground floor. I was there within a minute, I stepped out, glanced around then walked towards the large glass doors which swung open as I got nearer, I stepped out into the bright sun and smiled.. Hoping they wouldn't be boring kill joys.

I chuckled lowly to myself as I grabbed a pair of black sunglasses and put them on to cover up any emotion my gaze held and of course my eye color. I hated it when people saw them so in almost everything I had sunglasses on. I felt the car slow to a stop and looked out the other window on the other end of the limo, seeing kacey and rolled my eyes under the dark shades that covered them. The drummer named mike opened the door and smiled brightly "Come on in kacey" he told her and sat back in his seat, leaving the door open he always was the polite and wise one kinda welcoming you could say.

I watched as the limo pulled up, yeah that's totally inconspicuous, I shrugged and smiled as the door opened, I jogged down the stairs and climbed in, sitting across from who I knew to be Logan Webber, lead guitarist. "Hey." I said smiling at them all. Feeling instantly out of place.. Was I really ready to be famous?

"hey there tough stuff" oddly my voice was laced heavily with sarcasm as I spoke to her and received a smack to my upper arm. I glared instantly at the drummer who recently hit me and frowned "what I was joking" I lied easily which sounded very real since I had done it so much. Mike rolled his eyes and sighed "Dont worry bout Logan their, his bark is worse then his bite, by the way im mike the drummer, thats Sean the bass guitar and then of course Logan whos lead guitar and then your our lead singer now" he offered a friendly smile along with the other 2. Sean was the goffy one in the group, who would have guessed. mike the friendly one and logan was the jerk you could say. I just looked at her threw my sunglasses, offering no smile or anything biting my tongue not to let out a rude comment because we didnt want her quiting so soon.

I raised an eyebrow and gave him a quick once over, not bad... But his breath reeked of alcohol, scotch to be exact, I could smell it from where I sat. I shrugged. "Nice to meet you all... of course you all know my name, but I'm Kacey..Just thought I'd throw that out there." I laughed lightly. "Gosh it's weird knowing i'm the 'lead singer' now... I'm never going to get used to it.." I said and shook my head laughing. "Well..,. where are we headed?" I asked, wondering if they were the kind of people who like fast food, or liked the restaurants that served you a million main courses. I'd go for either or..

"Well its undecided just yet we dont want anything fancy so we left the choice up to you. honestly we are open for anything and everything" Mike spoke up when he knew logan was about to let out a little harsh tone. I fixed my gaze on mike again and let my lips shut tight in a firm line as I crossed my arms over my chest and leaned back against the seat just wishing this would end. I had no interest in this girl nor would I ever and of course I didnt for the members either but I respected them more then anyone since they were there for me. i snorted at such a thought and stared at the scotch bottle, grabbing it I downed the rest when no one was looking since they all were engulfed in a conversation. I felt the all to familiar buzz of the alchoal and smiled to myself as i relaxed finally, the light burning my eyes but the sunglasses helped alot.

I looked from Mike to Logan, a questioning look in my eyes. "Oh nooo, don't leave it up to me, I will never make a decision... I'm horrible at making them, seriously, I could sit here for hours and not decide where we should eat..But I don't want anything fancy either.. I'd feel totally out of place." I laughed gently, glancing over at Logan, then I shot a look at Mike, that basically asked 'what's up with him?'

Mike sent her an apologetic smile and shrugged cuz he didnt know much about logan either just enough to keep his comments to himself. "Well lets go to taco bell then and hang out near the beach get to know one another, cool?" he questioned and Sean agreed instantly "Im game!" he shouted with a fist pump just to make a laugh.i watched Sean with a raised eyebrow and looked at them all with a shrug "Whatever" i told them and soon the car pulled to stop near the taco bell closet to the beach so we could walk if we wanted and luckily we all sorta looked different so not many people recognized us.

"Sounds great!" I said, laughing at Seans goofy style, well, they weren't kill joys.. except for maybe Logan, I still didn't know what his problem was. I shrugged it off and we soon reached Taco bell. "I'm totally craving a chicken ranch burrito!" I laughed as I opened the door and got out of the car, the wind blowing my hair around my face making my laugh as I tried to push it back some, then I pulled down my glasses and put them on. I then looked back at the others waiting for them to get out.

Sean and mike eagerly followed after her towards the smell of food. I almost gaged at the smell but sighed and followed along in the back. my hands shuffled their way into my pockets as I moved along with them staying silent not to let out anything just yet. once inside I slowly removed my sunglasses to get a better look at the menu, my different colored orbs searching the many different things. It was kinda odd to have my sunglasses off, I didnt like the feeling without them but I needed to see what they had first as mike and Sean ordered theirs.

I made some small talk with Sean and Mike, getting a few laughs as we finally made it to the line, then I searched the menu and told the cashier what I wanted, a chicken ranch burrito, a bag of doritos and a sprite. Then I waited for everyone else to make their decision. As I glanced at them I noticed Logan's eyes. I gazed at them for a moment then realized he might think I'm rude for staring, then I looked away, what a strange color.. but it was pretty cool looking I had to say.

I blinked a few times and narrowed them with a frown, the light was bothering me a lot you could say "Um i'll have the same as him" I told the guy, pointing at mike as I put the sunglasses back on instantly and felt much better. I failed to notice kacey catching my gaze and relaxed with the light buzz I had going as we went and sat in the back so no one would bother us. I slide in leaving either kacey or mike to sit next to me and knowing mike i would probably be sitting next to kacey.

I waited till they all ordered and followed them back to the booth in the corner. I slid in beside Logan since Mike had slid in beside Sean. "So, why exactly were you guys looking for a new lead singer? What happened to the old one?" I asked curiously. I might as well know the history. As I shifted to get comfortable my hand brushed against Logan's for a split second and I yanked it away, it sent eh strangest sensation up my arm. I scooted a little bit more towards the end and looked at them, still expecting an answer.

I settled into the booth and leaned against the wall as she asked what happened to the old lead singer. "She got fed up with us you could say well me" I spoke up easily as I told her what happened. I felt her hand lightly brush my own and moved it away not liking the weird sensation that went up my arm when she did. I was glad she moved away from me more and toke the sunglasses off to set them down on the table, I didnt care at the moment the sunglasses where bugging me

"Oooh.. " I murmured looking at them. Then looking at Logan, well it was totally believable, he was pretty cold.. He wasn't very good company either. I shrugged. "That's too bad..."
